Hidden Hollow Camp is named for the distinct "hidden" flood plain cut by the Black River. This area features a plant community of towering trees, as well as a broad variety of wildflowers. The land for this site was obtained through the assistance of the Letha House Foundation and was formerly used as a Girl Scout camp.

A new group activities building at Hidden Hollow Camp was recently constructed and added to the park district’s inventory of reservable facilities. Funding for this project was provided by the Black River Stream Restoration Grant. The new building, designed by Architect Robert Arnold and constructed by C.C.M. Corporation, can accommodate large gatherings by organized youth groups such as scouts, churches, schools, and other organizations, allowing indoor camp-outs and other activities throughout all seasons of the year. The park district will also be using the facility for conducting special nature-oriented programs and classes. Like the previous barn, the amenities provided by the new building are rustic, with items such as a wood-burning stove for heat, a simple and minimal food preparation area, and outdoor vault toilets located conveniently nearby. The new facility, however, will be much more warm and comfortable thanks to the insulation material both in the walls and under the concrete floor. Although there is no indoor plumbing, the frost-proof water spigots are easily accessible at two outdoor locations, and a gray water pit for disposal of dirty dish water is located adjacent to the toilets. The twin vault toilets have a custom look, due to the fine work of the park district’s carpenters, with the addition of a screen baffle, a metal roof, and paint to match the colors of the new building.

Other improvements to the site include a campfire ring surrounded with plenty of flexible bench seating for evening programs, and a parade ground area with a flagpole for scout ceremonies. There are turf areas for outdoor recreation activities. The balance of the site will be planted and managed for enhancement of the natural habitat. Trees will be added along the entrance road and around the parking lot.

|
The second phase of improvements to take place over the next few years will be an upgrade of the tent camping area. It is anticipated that an open-air shelter will be built and vault toilets will be located near the camping area for convenience.

The park is made available to organized youth groups for camping and to conservation organizations for nature study, trail projects and hiking experiences. The rate for youth groups is $1/per person/per night with a $20 minimum. Groups interested in using this park should contact the park office for more information.

The building may be reserved by the public for daytime events such as picnics, graduation parties, birthday parties, etc., however, overnight camping is not permitted. The building capacity is 50-75. The rental fee for Medina County residents is $75/day use with a $20 key deposit. The out of county resident rental fee is $100/day use with a $20 key deposit.
