Have you ever wondered what that fascinating insect was in your backyard or what that unusual flower was that you saw in the park? Or maybe you just found something really cool and wished you had someone to share it with. If this sounds familiar, consider joining the Medina County Biodiversity Project. Found on the iNaturalist website, the Medina County Biodiversity Project is an opportunity for all levels of naturalists and outdoor enthusiasts to share, learn, and interact with like-minded individuals. As a fantastic byproduct, the iNaturalist site allows users to contribute to an ever-growing body of knowledge documenting the biodiversity that Medina County, Ohio has to offer. Capturing and recording this information is crucial to the protection of our natural resources for the benefit of future generations. So if you live in Medina County or you visit the parks, take a few minutes to check out the site, and, better yet, register and try posting a few pictures of your own!

How to Create an iNaturalist Account
Go to iNaturalist.org and click on "Sign Up!" to create an account. You can choose to sign in to iNaturalist by creating a log in/password or by using Facebook, Twitter, Google account, Flicker, or Yahoo. If you would like to be able to access iNaturalist from your iPhone or smartphone, there are links located at the bottom of the "Sign Up!" page as well. Once you successfully create an account, you can find the Medina County Biodiversity Project by clicking on "Projects" at the top left of the page.
