After several weeks of construction and closures, there are some exciting improvements waiting for you at Lake Medina. A brand-new paddlecraft launch/fishing pier is now ready to use near the Granger Road trailhead. Staff/board from MCPD and the city of Medina held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, September 29. The structure extends from the shoreline into the lake and features two paddlecraft launches, including an ADA-accessible launch, plus designated areas where you can comfortably sit or stand while fishing.
In addition, approximately one-mile of the Lake Medina Greenway trail south of the pumphouse to Route 18 has been repaved, making it even better for exploring the park by foot or bike. These projects, along with routine maintenance repairs to the lake dam, were funded by a State Capital Improvement grant.
Coming this October: The Lake Medina Greenway trail is expanding! An additional mile of trail and a new trailhead on Smith Road will open to the public in October, creating even more opportunities to walk, bike, and enjoy the outdoors. Stay tuned for updates on when the trail extension officially opens.
