Progress continues on the Lake Medina Greenway trail extension

Progress continues on the Lake Medina Greenway trail extension! In mid-May, a crew assembled and installed a new pedestrian bridge over the retention pond at the Summa Health Medina Medical Center campus.

The extension of the Lake Medina Greenway will add an additional one-mile asphalt walking and biking trail beginning at a 20-car parking lot on Smith Road. From there, the trail will wind through park property and the Summa Health campus along State Route 18. An at-grade, signalized crosswalk will provide safe access across the roadway to Lake Medina.

Once completed, the Lake Medina Greenway will span 2.4 miles from Smith Road to Lake Medina’s Granger Road Trailhead, creating even more opportunities to walk, bike, and enjoy the outdoors. The anticipated opening is scheduled for the end of July.

Please note that access to the Lake Medina Greenway will be limited to the new Smith Road lot and Lake Medina’s three entrances. Parking at the medical campus is limited to patients and caregivers and is not intended for trail access.
