Current Open Position: Communications Coordinator

Responsibilities:   The communications coordinator opening is a part-time, 24-hours per week position maintaining the park district’s social media content, developing press releases, newsletter stories, feature stories, and more to promote the park district.

Job Qualifications: Creativity in development of marketing and public relations content for print and web; proficiency with computers, websites, content-management systems, and social media channels; an understanding of journalistic techniques and knowledge of AP Style; ability to communicate effectively through writing and speaking

Rate of Pay: $18.10 - $22.60 per hour depending on experience

Current Open Position: Park Laborer

Responsibilities: The park laborer is an entry-level position and works in all areas of park maintenance including groundskeeping, repairs, and other assignments necessary for the operations and upkeep of parks and facilities.

Job Qualifications: Knowledge of operating hand tools and performance of maintenance work. Ability to work with various forms of power equipment including tractors, mowers, and chain-saws. Ability to work out-of-doors under varying weather conditions. Ability to perform light repairs and maintenance on equipment and/or buildings. Ability to operate vehicles in a safe manner. Proven teamwork, communication, and partnership skills, and the ability to work directly with all levels of the organization. Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, and/or other maintenance of facilities and grounds. Interest in the outdoors and the parks and recreation profession and ability to work effectively and take directions for performance of work. Must be willing to adapt to schedules and work weekend shifts as required.

Rate of Pay: Starting rate of $13.65 per hour

Current Open Position: Seasonal Park Laborer

Responsibilities: The seasonal park laborer is a temporary, seasonal position and works in the area of park maintenance, including groundskeeping, repairs, trash and other work necessary for the operation and upkeep of park facilities from April 15 to October 15.

Current Open Position: Resource Management Specialist

Responsibilities: The resource management specialist opening is a permanent, full-time position under the direction of the natural resources manager, which supports the park district’s conservation efforts including habitat maintenance, restoration projects, wildlife inventories, and invasive species controls.

Job Qualifications: A working knowledge of wildlife management techniques, forestry management techniques, aquatic habitat management, fresh-water fisheries management, invasive species management, and the ability to work with the public in a variety of settings. Any combination of training and experience that would indicate possession of the aforementioned knowledge, skills, and abilities. Experience in wildlife and plant identification, herbicide application, farming operations, the use of hand tools and field equipment (e.g., chainsaw, tractor, weed trimmer). A minimum of two years experience in land management is required.

Rate of Pay: Range begins at $15.40

Current Open Position: Seasonal Steward - Natural Resources

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the natural resource manager, assists with duties pertaining to natural resource management. Examples of duties include: trail construction and maintenance; invasive plant management; aquatic management projects; tree maintenance projects; park maintenance activities; operation of mowing equipment, chainsaws, tractors, and trucks; natural resource inventories (i.e., flora and fauna surveys)

Job Qualifications: Minimum first-year student in natural resource management, park and recreation management, wildlife management, or related field
